1994-1998

The 1995 coca cola cup final was between Liverpool and second division club, Bolton. A Steve McMannamen inspired performance helped carry Liverpool to a 2-1 victory. The following year it was Aston Villa’s turn to once again turn the style on in a league cup final, they met Leeds at Wembley and easily thrashed them 3-0. Savo Milosevic and Dwight Yorke both went on the score sheet. Leicester City, under the guidance of Martin O’Neill met Middlesbrough in the 1997 league cup final. The first final match ended 1-1 so the tie went to a replay which Leicester came out 1-0 winners.
Middlesbrough once again reached the final in 1998, this time, they were on the losing side once again, and they lost 2-0 to Chelsea in a slow final at Wembly.
