John Sheridan
League Cup Status – Winner (Sheffield Wednesday) 1991, Runner Up (Sheffield Wednesday) 1993

After spending seven years of his early career at Leeds United, Sheridan moved to Sheffield in 1989, a place in which he established himself as a fine football player. He helped Wednesday to promotion during the 1990-91 season with his fantastic performances on the pitch. He will be remembered mostly in Sheffield for his famous goal winner in the 1991 league Cup final against Manchester united. To this day the Sheffield Wednesday team of 1991 are the last lower division team to win a major trophy in English football. Two years later, Sheridan inspired Sheffield Wednesday to the League Cup final once again; however they lost 2-1 to Arsenal. Few months later Wednesday played Arsenal in the FA Cup final, and despite the match going into a replay, Arsenal once again came out on top.

Tony Daley
League Cup Status – Winner (Aston Villa) 1994,
Daley’s outstanding performances during the 1989 – 90 season helped Aston Villa finish second in the first division. Daley was a player who could rip defenders apart down the right wing. His blistering pace and explosive shooting provided a dangerous foil to the central strength of an incredible Aston Villa team. Daley helped carry Villa to the final of the league cup (Coca Cola Cup) in 1994, a match which they beat Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley Stadium. After his long spell playing at Aston Villa, he moved to Wolves for £1 million in July 1994. After a three year spell, playing for Wolves he moved on to play for Watford and then Walsall.
